.htaccess is Breaking Mint

On the instructions page, it says to add “php_value auto_prepend_file none” to a .htaccess file if you don’t want Mint to track itself. However, whenever I create that file, mint stops working, and gives an internal server error. After I delete that file, Mint works fine. Does someone know what could be happening (and how to fix it)? I don’t want Mint to track itself.

Are you placing that file in the correct directory?

It should be placed inside your mint folder. So:

yourdomain.com/mint/.htaccess

If it was placed in your root folder it may cause issues.

Mint will always track hits to its login page (so you know when someone is snooping around). The addition of the .htaccess file to the Mint directory is only necessary if you use the advanced .htaccess method of attaching Mint to your pages. Using the advanced method without disabling it for the Mint directory will result in the Mint JavaScript include being added to Mint when you are viewing your stats. Viewing stats is not tracked otherwise.

Oh, I didn’t realize it was only needed when you use the .htaccess method. Thanks for the help!
