mint on mint.mydomain.com doesn't work?

I installed mint in the subdirectory /mint and everything works fine. It monitors the activity of mydomain.com all right. Now I want to use mint from the subdomain mint.mydomain.com, of course without moving mint from its location (mint.mydomain.com is already associated with subdirectory /mint) and still monitoring the same website mydomain.com.

So I did, and changed the ‘mint location’ in the preferences accordingly, but mint doesn’t work: it show the stats but doesn’t build the charts and when coming out of the preferences everything is messed up because I am regularly sent to mint.mydomain.com/mint, which doesn’t exists obviously, instead of mint.mydomain.com as indicated in the preferences.

So what i am doing wrong and how can I get this to work? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m having this problem aswell, what was your solution?

no solution so far… I went back using mint in the subdirectory unfortunately.

Asides from changing the mint URL under preferences, did you tell it you’d “moved” its location by using ?moved ?

No SDJL, I hadn’t. Since Mint hasn’t actually moved from its location…

But now I did. I set mint.mydomain.com again in the preferences (not that it ever made any difference what was written there) and went to mydomain.com/mint/?moved. It cheerfully said that everything was successful — and then everything was just-like-before.

I am starting to doubt the eye candy…

Ok, following a kind tip from Sam Brown of pepperminttea.co.uk, I solved part of the problem.

— I changed the installation path in the preferences to mint.mydomain.com

— I went to mint.mydomain.com/?moved

Now mint.mydomain.com is loaded correctly in the sense that mint doesn’t redirect to a /mint folder anymore.

Yet still none of the pictures is loaded, and the charts are not built. Maybe a css problem?

I AM STUPID.

suddenly the word ‘.htaccess’ hit my mind.

OF COURSE the problem with the pictures was a hotlink protection problem.

Once I made sure that the hotlink protection exception included any mydomain.com subdomain, things worked out fine.

Sorry about the fuss. Hope this thread can be useful to other absent-minded fellows like me out there.
