Muliple 1 page hits from same ip address - Secret Crush

Installed Mint 2.08 & Secret Crush 2.12 Pref: Session ends after 20 minutes.

I am getting many 1 page results from the same ip address. This does not happen for all my users, just some. I will get several users who will show that that vists 10 pages and I can click the triagle to see the pages. But then I will see an IP address that repeats many times as seperate visits. Their visit times are within the session timeout limit. I have changed the session timeout time many times and that does not see to fix the problem.

Secret crush uses sessions and not cookies and if my user has a cookie eating app, would this cause my issue?

I think my problem is similar as the thread you closed ” Increasing stats upon using 2.0”.

Secret Crush uses cookies to determine when a hit is part of a particular session. Do you have any other information about this particular visitor (eg. IP address, browser, OS and version)?

Several users from today.

Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows with 6 continuous hits
Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows with 3 continuous hits
Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows with 5 continuous hits
Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows with 11 hits close together
Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows with 6 hits close together
Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows with 4 continuous hits

All the rest of my users were grouped or just had one hit. These users are within the time frame.

Would a cookie eating app create these results?

1st user was from - smartbro.net
2nd user was from - netvigator.com
3rd user was from - net.pk
4th user was from - pldt.net
5th user was from - bellsouth.net
6th user was from - rr.com

Just had a lightbulb moment. This problem has previously been linked to a conflict between the server and the visitor’s date/time settings. If the date/time on either end is off by more than your session time, cookies set by your server could be expiring immediately. All you can do is make sure your server’s GMT is correct. If it already is, there’s really nothing we can do.

If I increased my session time to over an hour, would this maybe fix the problem for any visitor just one hour off? Would this cause a huge performance hit? Am I increasing a session variable time or the life of a cookie time? Thanks

Both since cookies are used to determine active sessions.

If your server time is correct (definitely make sure it is before trying to fudge your session time) and the visitors GMT is incorrectly configured by an hour in the right direction, yes.
