Accessing Mint using a subdomain.

Is there any way to access the Mint installation from a subdomain instead of via the /mint/ folder? I normally access my Mint page through the url example.com/mint but I’d like to be able to do mint.example.com instead. I’ve done the DNS setup and I can access the install fine, but I can’t change a couple of settings like setting the “Ignore my visits” setting because Mint expects to see a /mint/ folder.

The reason for this is that I have the 1Password password manager for OS X which stores all login info for a domain under the same level regardless of the folder you are in. So all my logins for example.com appear when I try to auto-fill login for Mint. I figured if I made a subdomain I could pull the one login info for that domain instead which is when I came across this issue.

Did you visit mint.example.com/?moved after you moved the installation from the sub-folder into the sub-domain? Sounds like it thinks it is still in the former.

Mint should work fine on a subdomain (don’t forget to update your Mint JavaScript include src though). As Sam suggested try visiting mint.domain.com/?moved so that Mint knows to update its internal pointers. If you are still having trouble try deleting all MintAuth cookies set by any variation of your domain (eg. .domain.com, www.domain.com, .www.domain.com, note the leading .).

Just got a chance to try out your solutions and they worked just fine. However between typing in password and changing all the Mint JS includes, I’ll stick with the regular installation in the folder :-). Thanks for the help!

Okay, all of these look like old topics, but I’m having an issue and just want to make sure I’m doing this right. I checked the FAQ, and I’ve read this an a couple other forum posts…

I recently switched from using WP installed on my Dreamhost account to using a Posterous site. I’ve been using Mint for a while, and want to continue using it with the new site, which uses my existing domain.com. Here’s what’s up:

  1. I have a sub-domain - mint.domain.com
  2. I transferred my Mint license to that sub-domain.
  3. I have Mind installed in that sub-domain in this folder - mint.domain.com/mint
  4. My actual site is a Posterous site, but I’m able to customize the HTML in the theme, and I made sure to change the javascript call to http://mint.domain.com/mint/?js instead of the standard “/mint/?js”.
  5. I’ve already visited mint.domain.com/mint/?moved, got the confirmation that configuration was updated.

Don’t know if I did something wrong, if I didn’t change a setting correctly, or something else. But the only visit registered after the change was the initial visit to the /mint page from another computer before checking the “ignore my visits” box. Visits from my wife’s iPad or iPhone don’t register.

Any ideas?

I suppose it’s a lost cause then.

I’d sooner change the way I host my blog (and keep using Mint) than have to use Google Analytics to get stats, so I’ll figure something out.
