Jekyll and bird feeder

Posted on Dec 07, '13 at 04:36 am

I switched to Jekyll, a static web site generator. Now i have the problem with bird feeder to see the feed statistics.

The readme file suggest, that bird feeder can also run with static web-sites: “… Preparing non-PHP feeds for Bird Feeder … “. But i have some doubts.

  1. In general it is not running and i followed the instructions step by step.
  2. The PHP elements in chapter “Adding Bird Feeder to your Feeds” shows to me, that the necessary PHP code can only use by dynamic CMS like Wordpress, Typo3 etc., because my feed will not generate direct on the host with a PHP-template. Jekyll is a Ruby framework, my rss-feed-template is a ruby script and is still in a local work, without a complete Webserver/PHP-environment.

So is any body inside the mint universe with me and such kind of Jekyll or Octopress experiences?

Thank you
